US Army Awards Codan $5 Million to Supply the Afghan National Police with High Frequency Radio Systems

The Military and Security Division of Codan US Inc., has been chosen by US Army CECOM, New Jersey, to provide High Frequency manpack radios and base stations, valued at $5 million, to the Afghan National Police. These HF systems are to be used for in-country security, internal policing operations and a range of other communication needs countrywide.

“Codan is delighted that US Army CECOM has selected our HF radio systems to fulfil this important Foreign Military Sales order for Afghanistan,” said Andrew Sheppard, vice president and general manager, Codan U.S. Inc.

“The Afghan National Police have used Codan radios extensively for a number of years, and this latest order will add a significant capability to their existing Codan-based HF network.”

The order includes Codan 2110 manpack radios and NGT SRx Base stations.

“Each radio system will be fitted with the Codan Automatic Link Management module and the Codan Voice Encryptor,” continued Sheppard.

Other customers of Codan include the U.S. Department of State, Department of Defense and civil authority sectors within internal security.

“Codan radios have traditionally been used by Non-Governmental Organizations in much the same manner as they will be used for policing operations, counter narcotics, counter insurgency, border control and emergency communications.”

As noted by Sheppard, Codan is a supplier to the US Army and has already supported security and rebuilding programs in Africa and the Middle East by supplying thousands of receivers.
