Codan Radio Communications Sentry-H High Frequency Radio Achieves US DoD’s JITC Certification
Codan Radio Communications has announced the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certification for its Sentry-H High Frequency Radio. The JITC certification further strengthens Codan’s position as a leader in the tactical communications industry, with secure interoperability that supports the US, Department of Defense (DoD) and their associated partner networks.
JITC verifies product interoperability for all products used in Department of Defense networks. In addition the JITC certification confirms that Codan’s Sentry-H radio system is qualified as meeting the Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) requirements of Military Standard MIL-STD-188-141B, Performance and Interoperability Standards for Medium and High Frequency (HF) Radio devices. Codan’s Sentry-H is now listed on the JITC website.
The JITC certification establishes a common waveform for ALE operations, a crucial development to support multinational, coalition, and partnership Peacekeeping operations. Further, this certification guarantees interoperability between Codan and other compliant HF radio suppliers. A major advantage of ALE is that it rapidly selects the best frequency available for a radio operator initiating a call, thus alerting the operators on both ends to facilitate immediate communications. Concurrently, ALE automatically scans predefined channels and chooses the best channel available which eases the burden on the radio operator and the network as a whole.
“The Sentry-H clearly meets interoperability criteria with other HF radios according to the DoD standard,” Codan’s VP Business Development and Government Relations, Gene McConville explains. “This certification demonstrates Codan’s continued investment in defense applications to support interoperability among militaries operating in unique and challenging environments”.
The JITC certification confirms the Sentry-H radio surpasses security and interoperability standards for top US military operations, humanitarian and UN peacekeeper efforts, as well as securing established communication networks in partner nations.
