Codan Cyclone is the industry’s first drop-in replacement for existing conventional core radio repeaters and base stations that comes with a full P25 DFSI interface for future migration to a standards-based network and backhaul over Ethernet, reducing the need for costly leased lines and T1 connections.

PREPARE TO BE BLOWN AWAY

Codan Cyclone is a drop-in replacement for Motorola Quantar® repeaters that enables future migration to a P25 standards-based network and backhaul over ethernet. It integrates seamlessly into a proprietary V.24 network eliminating the need to do a “forklift upgrade” — so you decide when to replace aging repeaters.

Maximum flexibility

Cyclone is designed for maximum durability and flexibility with Field Replaceable Modules (FRM) that allow for replacement of single modules within the Cyclone, rather than having to purchase a whole new repeater or base station. The FRMs are hot-swappable in the field through quick removal or the Cyclone front panel and pull-out/drop-in module replacement.

AVTEC RIC-M™ TECHNOLOGY

The Avtec RIC-M allows federal, state, and local public safety agencies to solve two common challenges: bridge the gap between legacy radios, base stations, repeaters and dispatch consoles plus extend the life of legacy base stations. RIC-M™ uses technology developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate.

EASY UNPLUG AND DROP IN REPLACEMENT

The Codan Cyclone is the easiest and most cost effective option for updating existing repeaters and base stations, even on a proprietary network. With the same size and cable locations as legacy products, it’s as easy as pulling out the old product, inserting a new Cyclone and re-connecting the cables. Yes, it’s that easy.

Legacy product replacement

Organisations with legacy conventional P25 repeaters and base station radios with a proprietary V.24 interface are in constant need to upgrade their infrastructure due to failures of modules or obsolescence issues.
Often the options for replacement are expensive and require upgrade of other infrastructure components. A Cyclone base station/repeater is a drop-in replacement with the exact same size and cable locations as legacy products. The Cyclone has an integrated Avtec RIC-M™ module that acts as a V.24 translator box that converts V.24 to P25 DFSI and vice versa. This enables Cyclone to interface with legacy V.24 infrastructure and enables organisations to make a partial step towards the open P25 DFSI interface.
