Codan Radio Communications now offers remote site monitoring options with live site data and logging capability for predictive trending.  These capabilities assist customers in responding promptly to potential communication emergencies.  Codan’s standard remote site monitoring kit includes all of the required equipment for most monitoring applications.  This kit includes sensor points on key operational lines of a Codan MT-4E repeater or remote base station as well as external sensors for monitoring temperature, enclosure entry, RF power output (Forward and Reverse) and AC or DC Power availability. 

MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY

Add the remote site monitoring package to any Codan MT-4E series repeater or base station. Codan’s MT-4E series radios interface with the remote site monitoring onsite controller via direct wire line connections to analog and digital I/O available on the system subrack. Real-time and/or historical data collected at the site is passed onto a centrally-located PC equipped with APEX software via an existing radio (RF) link directly from the site or through an IP connection on a local area network (LAN). Codan Radio provides two separate remote site hardware solutions for customers interested in either communicating over RF links using the SiteCommander or over IP connections using the Summit.

SITECOMMANDER: RF LINK CONNECTIVITY

The SiteCommander is a low power, temperature-rated device that provides effective site monitoring and control at remote sites and is ideal in applications using RF links as the communications backhaul. When a site status check is required, an operator uses the APEX client software to initiate a call at a central base station site equipped with a Gateway SiteCommander. The base station polls the Remote SiteCommander sites using FFSK data signals sent over dedicated or shared RF links, which then returns site status information over these same RF links. The information is then displayed on any PC with APEX client software connected to the APEX Core Server.

SUMMIT: IP LINK CONNECTIVITY

The Summit is a powerful monitoring and control platform that offers a highly scalable I/O architecture. The Summit operates over Ethernet backhaul and can be sent over fiber, digital microwave, cellular (Fixed Stratus Infrastructure), or other IP solutions. The Summit controller interprets the signals produced by the external sensors, radio voltages, and control points, and generates event notifications. The event notifications are sent over IP (through a LAN) to a PC equipped with the APEX Client monitoring software. A software user can remotely control functions and devices at the remote site, such as transmitter Push-to-Talk (PTT) and security spotlights through the Summit web interface.
